Rumer, who recently announced details of her biggest UK tour to date, has secured a trio of nominations. She will face Miles Kane, Josh T Pearson, Villagers and The Vaccines in the 'MOJO Breakthrough Act' category.
Phil Alexander, MOJO's editor-in-chief, said: "It's been a tremendous year for emerging talent and this category confirms that. The MOJO Breakthrough category has a great pedigree when it comes to previous winners with the likes of Corinne Bailey Rae, Seasick Steve and The Low Anthem picking up this award.
"It's no exaggeration to say that all five nominees would be worthy recipients. At MOJO, we love them all."
Arctic Monkeys and Arcade Fire each receive a pair of nominations and will face each other in the 'MOJO Best Album' category.
Arcade Fire will compete with Pearson, who has also secured two nominations, for the 'MOJO Best Live Act' award.
The nominations in the five categories announced today have been chosen by MOJO readers. A number of 'merit awards' will also be presented by the magazine team at a ceremony in central London on Thursday, July 21.
