Stars of Tinseltown Charlize Theron, Bradley Cooper and Johnny Depp bring the glamour to GQ Men of the Year Awards
At the GQ Awards last night the U2 frontman confessed to a far less glamorous activity — walking his new pet dog around Dublin.
I say walking. It was more a case of the chart-topping rock star being dragged around by his pet pooch.
"I rang some pals and asked what they thought I should do to keep busy. One said, 'Just walk the dog.' So I took the dog out with my wife. It's a mongrel and a really strong animal.
"It dragged us through the streets and some little kid shouted, 'Is that dog walking you, or are you walking the dog, Bono?'
"I knew I was home. You can't beat it."
The U2 star and bandmates Edge and Adam Clayton were at the GQ bash to receive the Band Of The Year gong at the Royal Opera House in London.
It certainly has been a stellar few years for U2. They earned the most money ever from a rock tour with their epic 360° series of concerts.
Perhaps Bono should stick some of the tour wedge into dog obedience classes.
Serge Pizzorno from Kasabian made a rare appearance at a showbiz party — because Keith Richards was on the guest list.
Serge said: "I don't get out of bed for this stuff, but Keef's here. You've got to have some of that." Richards is pictured below with fellow gong winners Bradley Cooper and Tinie Tempah.

Kelly Brook
The GQ Awards may have been celebrating the men of the year but blokes didn't get a look in on the red carpet.

Glam ... Daisy Lowe and right, Pixie Lott
One Direction
Jimmy Carr hammered One Direction before dinner. He approached the lads, with a slightly sinister question: "Evening boys. Is there a kids' table for you tonight?
'Buy one get four free' ... One Direction
Louis Tomlinson didn't sit back and take it.
He fired back: "What's that shirt? Are you working as a nurse during the day? You look like you've escaped from a mental institution."
But it was all in jest. Five versus one – if it had seriously kicked off it would have been like death by monkeys in Toy Story 3.
JLS
Meeting the in-laws for the first time is tricky.
But being introduced to your girlfriend's scary uncle, or the guv'nor Paul Ince in JLS star Marvin Humes's case, must be a complete shocker.
Rochelle Wiseman from The Saturdays told me: "When Marv met my uncle we were at a fancy dress party and Marv was wearing a mask and eye-liner. Paul asked him to take his mask off, but he refused because of the eye make-up and didn't want to show his feminine side.
"He had to run to the toilets and wash it off. My uncle still found out and has hammered him for it since."
Stephen Fry
Stephen Fry made the longest presentation speech ahead of awarding the Music Man Of The Year prize to his long-term comedy partner Hugh Laurie. He said: "Hugh has made an album which has done extraordinary business. Elvis Costello said he was a better musician than actor."
Michael McIntyre presented the Comedian award to his Welsh pal Rob Brydon and had a pop about missing Red Or Black. He said: "For £1million, I want to know which one is Ant and which one is Dec. I wouldn't know the difference."

It was a night celebrating the best of U.K. male talent, but the stars of Hollywood stole the show.
South African actress Charlize Theron, The Hangover Star Bradley Cooper and Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp were the centre of attention at the glamorous GQ Men Of The Year awards ceremony last night.
Charlize,36, looked dazzling, but understated in her grey palazzo pants and a plunging satin blouse with a bouffant hairstyle and plum lips.
The North Country actress was seated in prime position next to International Male winner Bradley in the middle of the room at the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden.
Charlize took to the stage to present the award for International Male and began describing the winner's good looks, comedy and acting ability in The Hangover.
She joked that as Zach Galifianakis was too modest to accept the award the magazine had decided to present the award to Bradley instead.
Taking to the stage to accept the award Bradley said: 'Thank you to Dylan for deciding on me at the last minute,' referring to the magazine's editor.
Speaking to MarkMeets after the awards ceremony Bradley said: 'It is so great to be given the award I am really honoured. I'm having such a great time here.'
While Charlize didn't pick up an award during the ceremony she was referenced by many of the male speakers with host David Mitchell, Michael McIntyre and Idris Elba all making reference to her attendance at the awards ceremony.
Elba joked: 'Jimmy Carr has said I can take his wife home tonight. I'll settle for some Charlize Theron instead.'
